And about your BFF, I bet that she’s a “mademoiselle from Marseilles”! Why? Oh, because, I “recently” read an agony-aunt column (in a one-year-back issue of Marie Claire at the doctor’s waiting room — where else? — the universal magazine-archive stronghold! I challenge anyone anywhere in the world to cite ONE instance of latest-issue spotting on said premises! Nah, folks would sooner spot a UFO) called Cubicle Coach, where one woman whined about how we never earn enough vacation while our Euro counterparts get all of six weeks off, to which CC deadpanned:
“They also eat salad for dessert. Wouldn’t you rather have a Snickers? Don’t even think about comparing your lot to some mademoiselle’s in Marseilles. They have guaranteed jobs for life, lovers on the side, and they never get fat. We have chronic indigestion, 10,000-person downsizings to please Wall Street, and nobody’s getting laid enough. But we’re Americans, damn it, and we wouldn’t want it any other way.” 😀

Maude – Is Marie Claire like the Newsweek of ladies mags? Think about it, when was the last time you saw a copy outside of the doctor’s office or a salon if it wasn’t at the newstand? Also, how soon can I get a ticket to Marseilles? (Have you ever seen the TV show Fabio Montale? With Alain Delon? It’s awesome!)

And nope, never heard the magic words “Fabio Montale” until now…wonder how! Just looked it up: “Fabio Montale first appeared in a trilogy of novels by Jean-Claude Izzo, from which this trio of French TV movies was derived…It’s a seedy crime drama with stunning shots of Marseilles…” Enough said — I’m all in (despite not being a big fan of subtitled action flicks, ya know, since I prefer keeping 100% of my deficit-prone attention trained on what the good guy does to the bad guys and vice versa, vs. divviying it up with the squiggly text on the bottom of the screen)! Now lemme see…how soon can I grab hold of a DVD?
