All Things to All People

12 May

arun_jaitley

This is the kind of story that makes me giggle for hours:

Arun Jaitley [was holding a meeting] at the Oberoi hotel in Delhi recently under the aegis of a group known as the Entrepreneur’s Organisation. Its members are influential—-sons and daughters of Indian industry or the future bosses of corporate India. Jaitley was warming up to the task when suddenly a voice from the audience called out, “Jai Sri Ram”. Somewhat taken aback, Jaitley first paused and then also mumbled Jai Sri Ram. Presumably, the possibility of corporate types being Ram bhakts took a bit of time to sink in. But then the young man himself spoke up and clarified, “My name is Jai Sriram”.

 Next up, someone yells out “Jai Sri Ram” just to mess with his head.

we had a guy in class called, Sheikh Mehboob.
There would be an uproar in class each time a girl called out his full name.

    Seriously? And why is that?

Although, I do agree somebody suddenly shouting “Jai Shri Ram” out of context is a bit confusing.

Max – LOL!!! As long as no one took her up on the offer….

Koke – welcome to the new WP where you can embed youtube vids in the comments! so if you just post the url, it should show up without my actually, you know, clicking on it which is so 2000-late. 😀

Amey – haven’t you heard the conventional wisdom? Nobody cares for the BJP unless they’re middle class. And these are corporate money types so they were all there for… um, post poll promises? cooking classes maybe? Besides, it’s Arun Jaitley – man wouldn’t know what to do with a Jai Sri Ram if it came sidling up to him at a jaagran.
