There’s Something About Obama

29 Aug

So far I’ve heard that Barack Obama is not an American but is a Pledge of Alliance-spurning radical Muslim; he does not place his hand over his heart when the national anthem is played, but his mother was a radical Leftist and his own books prove him to be a racist; he will not release his birth certificate because it either lists him as “white” or because it holds definitive proof that he is not an American citizen but he has been endorsed by the Ku Klux Klan; he refuses to wear a flag pin or sing the national anthem because he “won’t take sides” and it might upset those who hate America but he has spoken at least 50 lies (ZOMG! 50!) on the campaign trail; and the crowning cherry on top: his mere touch can heal the ailing but he is the AntiChrist.

These are just a selected few of the rumors floating around the Senator from Illinois. Snopes.com has so far debunked at least 48 of them. Let it be said that there is no dearth of imagination in the United States.

Unfortunately, none of it really stuck. Sure, there are still people out there who think he’s a Muslim and thus a terrible person out to destroy all of them, but even that didn’t appear to faze the Obama campaign. There he went, speechifying and rallying and raising money and even getting the Germans to turn out to hear him speak, bringing back strong memories of JFK. Something had to be done! Inspiration apparently struck a few of them when they saw Obama standing in front of tens of thousands of flag waving Americans (or “brainwashed Democrats” as they like to call it) yelling for change.

Aaannndddd…. just in time to save the day, here’s Hitler!

That’s right, rightwingers (no, not Ryan Tate, scroll down to the comments) across the net have seen the resemblance and will not be swayed: the Democratic Convention was just like the rally at Nuremberg and Obama is just like Hitler because he stood in front of a big old West Wing set in a big stadium in front of more than 70, 000 people. He was whipping that crowd into a frenzy the way only fascists do! He was making ominous sounds about the glories of the past the way only fascists do! He wants socialized medicine like only fascists do! He raised his arm to wave… the way only fascists do!

Really, what could be more like Hitler than this speech:

The times are too serious, the stakes are too high for this same partisan playbook. So let us agree that patriotism has no party. I love this country, and so do you, and so does John McCain. The men and women who serve in our battlefields may be Democrats and Republicans and Independents, but they have fought together and bled together and some died together under the same proud flag. They have not served a Red America or a Blue America – they have served the United States of America.

So I’ve got news for you, John McCain. We all put our country first.

Why, that devious Nazi!

Okay, lemme see… his middle name is Saddam’s last name. His last name rhymes with Osama’s first name. The Republicans think he’s Hitler.

Now all we need is for DMK to endorse him and we can have Stalin thrown into the mix as well.

How unpatriotic can he be for trying to stop the war that costs us trillion dollars? Am waiting for what Granpa McCain will take the bait next week that he threw yesterday?
And now with another conservative as running mate Granpa will go ballistic and might even call him a terrorist!Who knows?

Am I the only one who is not digging Sarah Palin AT ALL? The dame’s very pro-life AND she wants to drill for oil in the Arctic Wildlife Preserve. Yeah, that’s right, Sarah. Sell your sisters out. Grrr. Clown. What a horrid choice for Veep.

This is only to be expected from right wingers, but did anyone see how Cornell West and Julianne Malveaux lit into Obama for not bringing up MLK jr. more in the speech on Tavis Smiley?

They were upset that he reduced Dr.King to “a preacher from Georgia” . Are you kdding me? When someone says a preacher from Georgia and an immigrant from halfway across the world (moi) knows who he is talking about, that makes it pretty obvious that the impact of Dr.King has gone well beyond the need to be referenced by name! I’m so glad I cant vote in America! There, I feel all better after venting.
BTW great blog, lovely writing, love the sarcasm and all the jazz.

You’ve been watching too much fox news!!

Like Bill Maher puts it “The problem with most Americans these days is that they will beleive anything which does not have a LOL written after it. “

I think Obama is a really smart politician and by Nov 4, the Republicans are going to be smarting big time.

They already lost the experience plank because of their VP. The only thing they got on Obama is the elitist thing. Which is not much. I mean they voted for a guy they wanted to have a beer with and look what he did for the last eight years. MIght as well try an elitist this time. Someone who can pronounce “Nuclear” and does not refer to Iraq as Mesopotamia.

Oh I fear for my country. Pitu, I don’t see how ANYONE can dig Sarah Palin. She’s worse than Hitler, since she is a woman persecuting other women. But as smart and charismatic as Obama is, the Republicans have the media and the general ignorant laziness of Americans in their favor.

    Sigh.

Ramsu – hahah, well he’s a socialist Democrat you know, so that should be easier than said. Did you hear about some group in Bbay that sent him a statue of Hanuman?

Pitu – Yes he is!! Caroline Kennedy got it right when she made that comment about him making her feel the way people keep telling her her father made them feel. And no, you’re not alone. She and the decision to choose her, makes me so annoyed. And I can’t believe they think Hillary voters will switch just because she come equipped with a vagina. Shows you how much they respect the female vote.

Tania – well, from the sounds of it the Straight Talk Express is going to halt for rough weather so this should be an interesting week. 😀

Complicateur – oh for the love of God! I love me some Cornell West but he’s been annoying me from the day Obama declared he was running for President because he seems to see Obama as some kind of social experiment he’s conducting. At least that other academic who wrote about Lyndon B Johnson and his importance in the present race wrote for the NYTimes, he didn’t make it all about how Obama should have made the convention speech into a memorial speech. Urgh.
Thanks for the link and compliment 🙂

OO – bite your tongue! And then eat some ghee shakkar. 😀 And Obama is NOT an elitist!!! Unless speaking well and doing well in school is a sign of elitism. Aaarrgghhh!

Pitu – Sarah palin also pronounces it Nucular.

Memsaab – yup, if this is what crazy love does to the media then they really need to have a rethink. The good thing is, Obama isn’t ready to just lie down and die like some others in the past.

I didn’t say he was an elitist. I said, that’s all they got.

    You, misunderestimate me. 😛

OO – oh, well, if that’s how you feel 😀 Joe Klein (I think) calls it a “cerebral aloofness”. I call it intelligence.
